What does it mean to be saved?

When we say that we are 'saved', what do we mean? In short, we are saying that we have accepted Jesus into our hearts. The Bible says, "if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)
